  • DANGER!!! Black Ground/Green Hot!!!

Now I've seen everything. I just took in a BF Fender Vibroverb amp from a customer who bought it on ebay. When I inspected it I found the replacement AC cord had been installed with the Black wire to Chassis and the Green wire to the Hot terminal of the AC convenience outlet. Apparently some AC cords with IEC connectors are being produced this way - not a problem until the IEC connector is clipped off and the cord installed in an amp. Any amp I find with one of these cords in it will be replaced with a new cable that meets UL color codes & safety standards.
    Just a heads up!

"I happen to have an original 1955 Stratocaster! The neck and body have been replaced with top quality Warmoth parts, I upgraded the hardware and put in custom, hand wound pickups. It's fabulous. There's nothing like that vintage tone or owning an original." - Chuck H

You get Japanese leads sometimes with black - white - green wiring. Black is neutral, white is live, green is earth. But where on the planet is green the live wire?
