  • Lab Series L5 normal channel question

I did a cleaning and replaced the input jacks on a Lab Series L5 amp. Then I noticed the normal channel wasn't as loud as channel 2, so I did a power measurement (as seen in the Theory forum). Channel 2 measures 115 clean watts, and channel 1 measures almost exactly half of that. This makes me wonder, is it faulty or is this a half power feature? I can't find anything on line about it. Does anyone see anything in this schematic that I don't see which would indicate this is how it is supposed to be? If it is faulty, I'm not sure it would be worth the added expense to correct it on a channel no one ever uses anyway?

It's weird, because it WAS working fine.....

Did you mix up the two inputs, hi and low? The normal channel should be just as loud as the fx channel.

As to the value of fixing it, it depends on who owns the amp.

Online? Look on your schematic. Look at the signal levels on the inputs. Channel 1 shows 250mv input, channel 2 shows 55mv input. Signal;levels through the channels are presented. Yes, the two channels are very different.
Education is what you're left with after you have forgotten what you have learned.

So, one yes, one no. I missed the signal levels at the inputs, so thanks for that. By online, I meant an owner's manual that might have explained this if it were so. I wonder why the signal levels are indicated as such. Is it for higher level outputs such as a keyboard perhaps?
