  • Eliminate Line Reverse with Stand-by Lamp

I am repairing a Harmony 535 head that has a stand-by switch with an indicator lamp. There is also a main power lamp. I will connect one of the legs of the main lamp to the cold side of the switch & the other to the trany primary with the white 120v wire. There are two more wires, one is a leg of the stand-by lamp and the other comes from the center of the stand-by switch. Does the lamp wire connect to the other (main) lamp wire with the white 120v, and the SB switch to the cold side of the main power switch??

I have not been very active working on amps until recently with a lot of indoor time. I could not find a schematic for this amp any help I could get with this would be appreciated. The two wire to three conversion is easy but confuses me with the added switch & lamp. Dumb Old Guy!!

    1) DONīT!!!!
    2) We donīt know what kind of lamp you have there , nor the standby, mains and line reverse wiring, you might have a fire or even make chassis "live" so donīt.

You can "experiment" with, say, a guitar plug wiring, but never ever with High Voltage or Mains related stuff.

Thank you for your reply and advise. I went back and looked at everything with "new eyes" and hooked it up as I thought. Used a lightbulb limiter and it works as it should. Power supply seems ok. The amp plays as it should, almost. It sounds good and is not noisey. The reverb does not work at all. It seems like the tremolo has a slight effect. All combinations of reverb wiring & footswitch positions & footswitch positions for trem were tried. This amp has 24-25 ceramic caps. The amp has five 12AX7's & two 6L6GC. Four little 35uf X 6v, I assume cathode caps and five conventional looking rolled paper caps. Without a schematic, I'm not sure where to start to find the leakers/off spec components in the reverb & trem circuits. Thanks again.
