  • Bugera V55 Filter cap replacement

    Hi guys,

First post here - I've been lurking for some time so I know there's lots of useful information and friendly advice available.

I'm looking to replace the power filter caps in a Bugera V55 combo, but I can't find a 220uF / 350V cap that will fit. The electrolytics are all Decon brand, and the 220uF caps look to be 25mm x 35mm. I can't find one that's less than 40mm. I have found a 150 uF / 350V cap that is 18mm x 35.5mm.

I have attached the schematic of the power section. I measure 488V at V1, and of course half that across each cap, so I don't think I want to reduce the voltage rating.

So my question is, can I use the 150uF caps here? It's actually my guitar teacher's amp (trading for lessons), so I'm not inclined to experiment...

    Or any other suggestions?

    Thanks!Click image for larger version

Is there no room for the bigger caps in there? If there is room, it's the lead spacing that is important.
Otherwise, two 350V caps there allows for 700V, which you don't need. Is there something in 300V that fits? That would still give you over 100V of leeway.

It's the height that's the problem. Only a couple of mm of clearance.

But here's a 315V guy that will fit, and right diameter and lead spacing, but rated to 85 C.

      Go fo it?

I'd check mouser first, if no luck there, then go with the 85C.

Ok no luck at Mouser on a 105C part. I'll go with the one from Digi-Key.

          Thanks for your help!
