  • Small Clone Depth knob mod?

    Hi all,

I want to add a depth pot instead of the switch on my new EXH Small Clone. Would that be as easy as removing the switch and wiring up a pot in it's place? I haven't opend'ed er up yet.

If it's that easy what kind of pot is recommended?

    Thanks,

    Rick

Ina word, Yes. Go to the Tonepad site (www.tonepad.com) and see their "Heladito" (Small Clone) project for information on that mod.

      Thanks Mark,

I just printed the scematic and took a quick look at it. It's based off the PBC board tonepad sells for their clone. Looks easy to do, I just hope the board in the EHX small Clone is the same as the tonepad clone - I'll have to see when I get home. Otherwise I'll probably be stumped!

The layout may be different but the design will be the same. Francisco Pena (Mr. Tonepad) used to have a different project file up that included the original depth switch and instructions for how to mod it to a variable control. The newer file he has posted omits the switch and only shows it post-mod, so no wonder there is some confusion.

The original will have a 4k7/2k7 resistor pair, with their junction tied to the 39k/10uf RC combo. Normally, the depth switch simply connects the 2k7 resistor to ground or breaks that connection. The variable depth mod simply replaces the 4k7/2k7 pair with a 10k pot. The wiper is what ties to the 39k/10uf pair.
