  • Smokie Crate PA6FX

Last Saturday at a Friends wedding my daughter told me that my amp had smoke coming out the back. Not able to turn it off, I put a small fan on the heat sink and continued. It never gave up the ghost but was definatly hot. I tore into it after the evening was over and found a dark spot on the board.
I cannot locate a schematic on line but noticed a thread here that indicated availablity. Can anyone help me out. I'm thinking maybe heavier components will keep this little amp cruizen. I just need a bit of guidance.
    Thanks

No, it doesn't need heavier components, it needs the faulty ones that CAUSED the smoke to be replaced. it might need nothing more than a bias adjustment.

COntact Loud Technologies Inc and ask if they will send you those schematics. If they cannot, THEN you can contact me at:

Make sure to use Crate PA6FX as the subject line.

Where is the hot spot? On th power amp board? On the preamp board?
