Received your off-line note, and yes you were correct to wonder if you had strayed too far to the edges of what is permissible/acceptable here. There ARE folks whose presence here certainly does not hurt their business interests, but generally that is a result of giving something back in the way of sharing information or teaching others, such that their reputation as "decent guys" is established. Starting off with self-promotion, on the other hand, is frowned upon, so your instincts were correct to wonder if you had done the right thing.
That being said, there are many who include a simple link to their website as part of their signature, and subtler notes of that type are not so frowned upon. Just keep in mind that if one wants to USE this forum as advertising, then one ought to PAY Steve Morrison for that advertising, since it is his money and effort that makes all this possible.
That being said, no great crime, and easily rectified. Best of luck to you.
