can anyone recommend a phrase looping device, i have heard that the JamMan is a good one for the money, and good for beginners. any thoughts?

I use a JamMan and its excellent. I had a Boss RC-2 before that but needed more features. After looking around, my choices came down to the JamMan or the Boss RC-20. Although it's slightly more expensive, the JamMan had better features overall and, I thought, it had a warmer sound. I've been very happy with it.
If your after a very simple, low cost unit that doesn't take alot of pedalboard territory, you won't go wrong with the RC-2. If you want more features go with the JamMan.
