Will double-faced tape hold a bobbin while winding?

I tried it four ways, then removed the magnet from the pickguard to see how easy or hard it would be:

    1) 3M tape followed by a bead of super glue around the perimeter
    2nd best, pretty good

    2) carpet tape
I can't deal with that stuff

    3) 3M tape by itself
    I wouldn't recommend it

    4) small bead of super glue down the center of the magnet
the winner - by far the strongest bond - broke the p/g trying to get it off

The absolute king of all foam tapes is 3M type VHB (for very high bond). You can get it at McMaster Carr www.mcmaster.com . A piece of it 1.5" X 4" will support several hundred pounds. It's used to hold aircraft together.

You have to make sure you have it on a nice clean flat surface. I have to give the bobbins a good twisting tug to get them off the winder. I use blue painters tape under the 3M tape so I can get it off the platen. Otherwise it sticks too well!

I use this stuff for router templates all the time, and it doesn't budge.
It would be possible to describe everything scientifically, but it would make no sense; it would be without meaning, as if you described a Beethoven symphony as a variation of wave pressure. — Albert Einstein

To humbuckerbobbins I use any tape, the latest I tried are for paper. But I dont have too much speed.
