  • Odd buzzing in 5f2-a

I finally finished my 5f2-1 build and trying it out today with the wife and kids out of the house I came across this problem. I get a LOUD buzzing noise when the controls are at opposite extremes ...I.E. vol all the way up, tone all the way down or the opposite tone all the way up with vol all the way down. Other than this, it 's dead quiet; no hum, no hiss, no funny ticking from cell phones and whatever. But turn the controls to opposing extremes and it's like a nest of angry bees.

Your description suggests that the ground for the pots is picking up hum. Did you use the brass plate like the original Fender layout? Try running those ground wires to the ground side of the 8uF cap that is the preamp filter.
WARNING! Musical Instrument amplifiers contain lethal voltages and can retain them even when unplugged. Refer service to qualified personnel.
REMEMBER: Everybody knows that smokin' ain't allowed in school !
