Is this the famous T-top pickup?

I've noticed that they usually have the black decal with the pat no written on it, but this one has it on the bottom plate. Is it the real thing?

That might be a T top, or a Shaw. They both have the patent number stamped on them.

T tops have a T on the bobbins.




I'm sure someone here that specializes in Gibson pickups will chime in.

It should be a TTop but there isn't ONE type of TTop. The earliest ones had patent stickers on them and were wired like PAFs with only one shim. Later ones were wired differently with two shims and the patent stamped baseplate.

Not all the info on the second link is correct, for instance he says Gibson used BRASS covers on PAF pickups, yeah sure....
