  • Dynacord Powermate Question??

    Hey Guys,
I have a Dynacord Powermate 1000 along with 2 EV SX500 speakers. Right now I have them set up as left and right. The speakers make a popping noise when I start to crank up the volume. (usually when lows hit). The SX500 speakers are rated for 500 watt 8 ohms. My Powermate says on the back 2 x700 Watt @ 4 ohms, 2 x 350 watt @ 8 ohms. I think in this current configuration that I am only supplying 350 watts to each speaker... in essence starving them for power. Is this correct and if so, how can I fix this issue and still use the Powermate 1000? I think I can fix this issue simply by using only one output channel and rewiring the speakers in parallel (thereby making the system 4 ohms and being able to use the full 700 watts on each channel). Am I on the right track with this one? Thanks for the help!

You are starving nothing, on the contrary.
Your "popping noise when lows hit at high power" probably means you are about to destroy your woofers with excess excursion.
    Ease off with bass boosting.
    Good luck.
