OK Terry, this what I've done to my guitars:
Strat with HSH although the one guitar is a PRS SE EG (their only model that looks like a strat, I believe) with a JB junior (SC size) in the neck, duckbucker in the middle (I'm still calling it a SC) and some kind of hot rails in the bridge. With the superswitch I'm able to select a bunch of parallel SC options as well as the two HBs.
The other axe I've franken-ized is a squier strat, originally HSS. I replaced the neck coil with some kind of cool rails pickup. Again, I superswitch a couple of parallel SC options along with the 2 HBs and both buckers in parallel. This guitar is my 'test platform' as I can access the electronics from the back (it has a fake flamed-maple front - no pickguard).
I've never been a fan of the noise generated by a SC alone, so I don't bother with that option.If it still won't get loud enough, it's probably broken. - Steve Conner
