  • Help! Peavey Amp hisses plug in powered keyboard and it gets really noisey.

I have a Peavey KB 300 amp from 1983. It has a slight hiss. When a keyboard is plugged in, it gets a loud oscilating sounding noise. Should I replace the TL 074 amplifier? Or, should I look somewhere else.

I wouldn't be looking at the TL074, that is in the power amp.

The amp has three input channels, does this happen on all three?

Have you tried more than one cord?

What happens if you plug in something other than the keyboard? A guitar, another keyboard, a CD player, whatever.

DO any of the controls affect this noise?
