VOX AC-30 BROKEN??!! Please help

Hi there,
Names dan.

I just bought a new Vox AC-30 custom classic and am having a few troubles.

i plug my lead into top boost and turn the top boost volume on full.
then i turn up my master volume and it gets increasingly louder till about halfway..
when i turn from halfway to full volume the volume barely changes at all.

I'm wondering if i am just noob with my new amp or is something wrong that i should check out.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Your amp is probably fine. It's pretty normal in tube amps, at least old non-master volume ones, that at about halfway up on the volume control the sound gets more compressed, then more distorted, but not much louder. At least all mine do that. It's why I love 'em.

It's remotely possible that the volume pot is linear taper when it's supposed to be log taper...but I doubt it.
