  • Question, please. No heater CT- to elevate or not?

    Hi everyone,

Question, please. I have a power transformer from a Hohner/Contessa 2 x 6l6 amplifier. I also have a Marshall 2204 6l6 project. I started to transplant the transformer into the Marshall and quickly found that there is no heater center tap. If I wire the heater filament pin 2 & 7 6l6- 4/5 & 9 ECC83 .....am I guaranteed to get a hum without a center tap??? Do I use the 100r on each leg or do I ground one side of the heater winding and ground pin 7 6l6 and 9 ECC83? The transformer was used the latter way in the Contessa, will this work in a Marshall??

Thank you always and again for any advice.

If I were doing the work I would install the artificial center tap circuit using two 1OO Ohm resistors.
If the transformer has the current capacity then it will work in the Marshall. The transformer doesn't care which heater wiring scheme you use.
    Cheers,
    Tom

      Hi Tom,

Thank you very much. I'll wire it like an old Fender....... I should have made a Fender instead of a Marshall.
