  • Blackstar HT5 Vol/Gain Pot issue

    Hy to all,

yesterday a customer brought in a Blackstar HT5 with a weird problem.

Clean channel works fine. No problem!
Overdrive channel works fine as well if there wasn't a weird behavior.
You can not reduce the volume to zero with the Vol-Pot.
The only way to silence the channel is to turn the GAIN-Pot zu zero.
As this is the first HT5 that crosses my way, I would like to ask you for support.

Is this behavior o.k.? (strange, but correct)
If it's faulty, has anybody a hint for me where to search?

    Thx in advance!

    Greetings
    Gerhard from Austria

Check that the OD volume pot is working correctly. There should be no resistance between wiper and ground when turned all the way down.
Here is the volume pot switching circuit.

      Hi g1,

      thx for your answer.
In fact the volume pot seems to be defective. Measured 1,7k between wiper and
      ground.

I think changing the volumepot will help.

Do you have any suggestions where to buy a replacement pot?
      The pot is labeled "DELTA".

      Thx
      Gerhard

I occasionally buy pots from Blackstar directly. They're fairly priced and don't sting on postage. The favourable exchange rate should make them even better value for you.
