  • 1971 Kustom K100-C8 distorted at any volume

Howdy all, I have a Kustom K100-C8 I bought new in '71, it's been repaired before for blown output transistor and has been sitting for years. It now has an overly distorted sound at any volume and i'm looking to see if anyone here has any diagnosis experience with these solid state amps. Or can direct me to any printed material for solid state repairs. Thank Ya Fester

Amps are amps, working on them is all the same. "Distorted" is not a specific enough complaint to address directly. A lack of filtration leaves excess power supply ripple which can modulate the audio. But a power amp issue can lop off half the waveform and sound bad. The preamp could be distorting from power supply voltages way off or just leaky e-caps. The list goes on.
