Hi all, can someone explain why the bass and treble pots are shown to have the wiper and outer leg joined? What would be the result of just using 2 legs of the pot leaving the other outer one alone? Is it functional, taper, or? Also why shunt the signal thru C3 .001uf, are those pickups to bright or something?

On the grounded pot leg: I believe this is done to prevent noise from being picked up by the unused leg. It would otherwise work the same. The cap: Could be a number of reasons. I'll not speculate.
