    Don't try this at home

SO I had a couple rifles I had no need for, took them to a local gun shop to turn them into cash. I am not a gun guy. I used to have a 12ga shotgun for killing vermin on the farm, and a 22 for rats and rabbits. But hadn't shot them in decades. SO this trip I took a 22 long rifle and an old WW2 M1 carbine in.

I apparently did a bad thing. I know I should walk around with my shotgun broke open, and like that. SO I put the rifles in the least threatening position I could and entered the store. Well, apparently you don't do that. A guy comes running over and asks' "CAN I HELP YOU?" and two seconds later, "Can I take those?" And he reached for the guns and quickly checked for loaded. Then he hollered to another fellow across the store to scold him for not watching the door.

Turns out you don't walk into gun stores with a weapon not in some sort of case. Even wrapped in a sheet. I understand, they don't know if I am there to hold them up or something, just never occurred to me.

We quickly determined there was no threat, I apologized for breaking the rule, and we transacted.

FLush with cash, I took the wife to dinner. Went to Red Lobster instead of Dennys.

Yes, I've done all kind of gun trading.
If the gun is bare, just walk in and warn them first. Then go get the gun.
At gun shows, You show your gun at the door to an officer, and they strap the bolt down, or make it nonfunctional.
Then you can walk around with your gun slung, or in a soft case.
    Sounds like you did OK.

Oh there is nothing going to happen now. I would have taken extra steps had I known I was supposed to.

I recently sold a hand gun in another local store, it wasn't in a case, but it was in a full covered holster. I walked in with it to no alarm.

    10 minutes in Photoshop.

When I read the post, I got a mental picture. I decided to bring it to life. I remembered that you once posted a pic in the beard thread.

Oh, I am impressed. That is the first time in four years at this apartment I actually had the wife come over and look at my screen.
