  • ID odd components in bell and howell amp?

    Hey Folks,
I have encountered some odd components, what I thought was a couple capacitors, but they have a code I am not familiar with. From what I can gather on the internet, they may be an old wire wound resistor, but still its a code that I have never seen. They are tubular, and have a numeric code as follows: 17040 10-250v dc There are no other markings on them. all 4 have a different 5 digit number. I dont have access to the amp, so no photo. any help would be great.

Always useful in these cases is: what does it connect to?

And: what model is it, in case someone here has the schematic?

From the numbers alone I would predict a 10uf 250v electrolytic cap.
Education is what you're left with after you have forgotten what you have learned.

That's a 10uF 250V electrolytic capacitor. Be careful, those can hold quite a zap!
