  • Carling switches and Mouser

Does anyone know what's going on with the prices for Carling switches at
Mouser ? Since November prices have more than doubled for some
    switches.

For example, I bought some SPST toggle switches, Carling 110-73, last
November for 4.51 $US and now they go for 12.34 $US. The .pdf pages
of their catalog do not reflect the price hike but as soon as you go to
order one you get the new price.

    The 110-P pushbutton switch has gone from 8.45 $US to 17.93 $US.

Oddly enough, while the prices for some swithes have skyrocketed, the
2BL62-73 DPDT toggle switch has actually gone down about a dollar.

When I talked to Mouser about this I received a vague answer about
their not buying many switches from Carling (they only have 1037 110-P's
    in stock !).

At last glance Digi-Key's prices for Carling switches were still reasonable.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but are the carling's made in Mexico->USA?
    Maybe that's the answer.
It could be worse if they were made in USA or Europe!

Perhaps they dropped the franchise for lack of volume and lost their end column pricing. For example if my shop were to drop its Marshall and Fender affiliations, I would then have to buy parts at retail instead of wholesale.

A thousand switches in stock is first off nothing to Mouser, a 10,000 order would be more interesting to them. Also, they may have sat in stock for three years or something. it is all about how many they sell, not how many they have.

        Tube Depot

I just bought a SPST Carling switch P-110-63 from Tube Depot at a fair $3.95.

        Recieved it very quickly too.

It looks like Mouser has fixed its prices. A 110-P now goes for 8.88 $US
and the 110-73 is 3.59$ even cheaper than last November. The 2BL62-73
has gone back up to 8.40$.
