  • What's the vox pathfinder ic?

I blew one and the #'s re gone. I think it's the tda2030 from past research but I 'd like to be sure. As an aside, I found some notes tht the lm 1875 is a better chip than the tda 2020. Thanks

    Vox Pathfinder IC

The power amp is a TDA 2030A. I'm in the midst of working on mine and might replace it with a 2040V or 2050V. I also have an LM1875 here, but I get the feeling that the TDA2050 will work better.

The preamp chips are JRC 4558s. I have replaced them with NE5532s and the noise floor might have improved a bit. It might be my imagination, but I think they give the amp a more open sound in the mids. I have an OP270 and 275 that I might try to see if they help the noise floor. They're supposed to be really good Op-amps, but that might not really be what I want in a guitar amp. I'll let you know how it goes.

I prefered it with 072, more tubish sound.

I replaced the TDA for a 2050 and the loudspeaker for an Eminence 875, I know it's 4 Ohms, but it's working with no power IC blownup.
