    Here's the final draft of the schematic I'll use to mod these Heathkit amps into guitar amps. It's based on the results of several threads here and a lot of input from you guys

    What I'm wondering about mostly now is whether the switching scheme I put in will work for being able to switch V1a in or out? As you can tell, I'm a total noob when it comes to this stuff so I really thank you for the input you've given me so far.

    This is just the basic circuit. I do plan to play a little with coupling cap values and cathode bypass caps in the preamp.

    The volume control (R28) will still negatively effect the input signal when you bypass the first stage. Your guitar volume pot will be in parallel and if the pot is at one or zero... quite a bit of signal will be lost before it gets amplified.
    You might have to put an isolation resistor in front of the cap so it will not load down the grid of that next stage.

      Thanks, Bruce. Any recommendations on a size for that resistor? And that can go right between R28 and C15?
