Unhappy blew up my peavey xxx need help

i have a peavey xxx 60watt 1-12 combo amp.my amp made a loud pop, blew a tube and then no sound came out.the lights still came on though. i turned it off and retubed it. then a very faint sound would come out of it. today i went to radio shack with all the fuses, got new ones put em in and now sound comes out of it...but its nowhere near as loud as it was before it popped and the clean channel is all distorted and all the channels sorta cut off when i hit a chord. i changed 5 fuses in the amp, are there more in there somewhere? what elses might be wrong with it? thanx for any help

Sounds like you may have blown a screen resistor on one side or your signal isn't present on one side. Do you have any electronic experience or own a meter ?

+1 on the screen grid resistor. Unfortunately if your not handy with a meter, soldering and most importantly draing the caps its ti8me for a tech. Bob

Then see a technician, I agree with KB, it sounds like you haver at least a burnt open screen resistor - the result of the failed tube.

Shouldn't be that much in the scheme of things to replace a screen resistor but your if your tech is worth their salt they will troubleshoot it properly to determine what actually needs repairing (and let you know before they rack up too much time on it). There's usually something like a 1/2 hour pro-forma charge you have to pay either way for getting it on the bench to determine the cause (unless you have some as-yet-unheard-of amp repair insurance, in which case you'd probably have to forfiet some as-yet-unheard-of no-claims bonus or other insurance overhead, which amounts to the same thing as paying the tech to have a look)

And you can go on the Peavey web site and use their service finder.
