| HB magnet doesn't contact both poles for the coils
I just got a project bass with no wires coming out from the mini-HB pickups. I took one apart thinking it was going to be a SC that looked liked a HB, but it had two coils. The one-piece pole pieces for the coils are tall enough to partly stick through the cover on the top and be in contact with the single magnet on the bottom. The magnet isn't wide enough to contact both poles and the gap was filled with a shim which looks like it was made from a piece of binding. Is the lack of direct contact between the magnet and one of the pole pieces anything to be concerned about? A regular HB magnet from AllParts is too wide to fit, btw. |

Kind of like a Dimarzio air gap technology if you want to call it that. IE: Air Norton etc....

Thanks. I might use a nail or two instead of the binding for shimming - seems like a good place for metal.
