I was using my marshall amp and suddenly the sound went dead. The power light is still working but absolutely no sound. I suspect the tube has blown. Any recommendations on changing the tube, best brand, number of tubes to buy etc. Thanks. |

First make sure your speaker and speaker cable are working. Then check your guitar cable and the guitar. Only then should you assume the problem is inside the amp. Assuming the problem is in the amp, my recomendation is to get it to a good repair tech who is familiar with the inherent problems with modern guitar amp construction. You can try replacing the tubes, but the answer to your question about how many can be answered by looking inside the amp and counting how many tubes the amp uses. Be aware that there can be dangerous voltages present in the amp, even when unplugged. If in doubt - find a qualified tech to examine your amp. RE |
