| 5E3 Bright Channel????
I see where people talk about the 5E3 "bright" and "normal" channels. The schematic looks like the channels are exactally the same. Am I missing something? If so, which is the bright channel and why?

You have missed the fact that one chanel has a tone control circuit. (The top channel on the schematic) When the tone control is at the treble end of the range more highs are bypassed around the volume control by the .0005uf cap. This makes it sound brighter. HTH, Tom |

Thanks. I would think that the tone control would affect both channels, but I guess I was wrong.

The "tone" control does affect both channels but the .0005uf cap acts as a variable bright cap on only one channel. Therefore the tone control range is brighter on that channel. Complicating things is the fact that the channels are interactive. | |
