Clever way to remove Peavey PWR tube board?

Hi. I have a Peavey Ultra Plus and I suspect a bad grid resistor. Measures open from the solder side and I tried re-heating the joints but still reads open. So now I want pull out the power board but it has these rivet (I guess?) type pins to hold the tube sockets, which in turn hold the power board PCB. Anyone have a good way of removing the rivets? use a 1/8" bit on your power drill and drill right through them. you will need to get yourself a pop-riveter and some rivets to reinstall, but it doesn't cost a lot ($15) and you'll find other uses for it.

Two thoughts. First, I believe the solder side is what is exposed underneath the chassis. Desolder the bad resistors, and poke their leads through the holes in the board until they fall out. Fish the now loose resistors out. Now solder the new resistors on the solder side of the board. The resistors surely won't care which side they are on.

And if you just HAVE to remove the tube board, you get a 1/8" drill bit and drill out the rivets. Make sure to fish out the little rivet remnants. ANy hardware store or Home Depot type place has "pop rivets" and pop rivet guns. 1/8" diameter is the common size of pop rivets. They come in lengths. I use for this the short ones - grip range 1/16-1/8" A pack of 25 should be maybe $2. You will need a "gun" to install the rivets. it is a hand tool sorta like a crimper. Very simple to use.

The sockets on my Peavey VK 112 are fastened with screws. It may be possible to use screws instead of rivets. Just a matter of choice. A self tapping screw may work. Whichever way you do it, make sure you don't have chips and debris floating around the circuitry.

Thanks everyone. I'll probably drill these rivets out and I'm thinking of somehow making this board removable with screws. If I discover a good method I will share. Of all the boards in this amp the power board gets riveted...?

The reason I know about mine having screws was because, I had to remove the spring type tube retainers. I put KT66's in and the base was too big for them plus it was metal. My amp sits at home when I play most of the time so I am not worried about them coming loose. I am always checking the power tubes for wiggling loose anyway.
