| Anyone tried a 5F4 preamp with a long-tailed PI?
Just curious how it sounds. Any surprises? Thanks, Skip |

Would be nice to know, since I'm planing to build a two channel amp where the first channel is a 6G11 circuit. For the second channel I'm torn between the 6G3 or 5F4. I'd tend to think the 5F4 with a long tail PI would sound similar to a 5F6-A Bassman. I also think that the amp would lose some of it's earlier breakup because of the missing half 12AX7 before the PI (original circuit). |
