Hi, I'm Bruce,

I've been a guitarist for the last 37 years and played tube amps all that time (well, after I got rid of that first Silvertone POS ).

In my "day" job, I've been a software developer for the last 25 years. But I've dabbled with a few mods to my tube amps over the years.

The most recent was changing my Valve Jr. over to using DC filaments and putting a standby switch on it.

I've also been building cabinets for about 30 years. Kitchen and bath cabinets at first then bookcases, entertainment centers, etc. In the last decade I started to build musical instrument speaker and amp cabs, too.

I've just embarked on a new project to build a tube amp from scratch. I've also got an old Bogen CHB14A amp to "rebuild" as well and to convert into a guitar amp.

So, I've got plenty to keep me busy now that I'm disabled. I have some problems with manual dexterity, attention span (which makes reading a bit difficult), hand strength, etc. But I know my limits and am able to work safely if at irregular intervals.

I don't play guitar any more. I can't deal with fretting the strings any longer. It hurts too much. One might ask why fiddle with the amps, then? And I'd say, because it's fun. And if I don't find something to keep me busy, I'll go quietly mad.

Anyway, I'm hoping that I can give as much help here as I ask for. And I freely admit I make mistakes ALL THE TIME.

So, I guess I'll just dive right in and ask a question.

Is there anywhere in the "Build an amp" section that people discuss chassis cutting/making/design/faceplates, etc.?

There doesn't seem to be a metal/chassis-specific area. I think you'll have to use the search on some likely terms like make AND chassis
