| fret slot saw
Hi Im just approaching the stage of sawing the fret slots in my fingerboard and was wondering if anybody knows of a decent saw to do the job?. The frets i have have a dimension of .95 at the tang. On my last guitar after i had saw the frets with a gents saw i went to put the frets in, some of them stayed in place, some of them fell out. Can u get different sided gents saws? because when i look on the net for gent saws they never give a thickness of the blade. Dan |

Where have you been looking? Here's one from Stew-Mac: Quote:
And one from LMI: Quote:
I have the LMI saw and have used it on a bunch of fingerboards. 0.023" is the standard slot size.

I have the Stew Mac saw, and it is very good quality. I also have their mitre box and their blade for use on a power saw. http://www.stewmac.com/shop/Fretting...Miter_Box.html http://www.stewmac.com/shop/Tools/Sp...Saw_Blade.html Both can be used with their fret slotting templates. Not the cheapest route, but excellent results.
