tweed princeton volume pot

Hey all,

I just bought a Mercury Magnetics Tone Clone FTPP-55 power tansformer off EBay for $55

for some reason ( haste or wishful thing) I thought I was buying a 5E3 tranny.

So what the heck I'll build a princeton! I've darn near everything else on my bench to build one including a genuine Fender speaker baffle with a 10" ceramic speaker.. logo and everything

the Fender layout I found states the Volume pot is linear.

I find this odd.

Should I use an audio taper for the volume instead?

I'm not trying to build a perfect clone, just a good playing amp.

If I can use a 1Ma pot, I have a CTS here with a push pull DPST switch.

what would be a useful feature to make out of this? maybe a bright switch or cut?

Thanks
Ray

****EDIT*****

I'll build the 5F2A circuit, no choke.
this being a Tone Clone will i end up needing to adjust the HV?

Audio taper will work better as a volume pot

Just build it as per the schematic, it won't matter if the plate voltage is 20V higher than the schematic

Wink

You're going to love your 5F2A. It's a great amplifier. I've got an original 1960 tweed with cigarette burns all over it! And funny thing, a cheap little Jensen MOD 8" sounds better than an $80 alnico in there.
