Valco pickup specs?

Hi,

does anyone here know details of the Valco single coil PUs in humbucker format like they are used in Airline guitars?

Are they just half of a PAF?

Here's some pics of one of mine. Magnetic and electronic specs to follow...
Definately looks like rough cast alnico bar magnets. The two outside pole piece screws are longer than the other 4 because they extend into the body for height adjustment. These pickups are very bassy for single coils and strike me as being pretty hot. Like a gnarly bassy lofi p-90.

Jason Lollar may be able to help you with that.
Meanwhile, if it's buggered take the damned thing apart and have a look.
I may turn out to be one little coil with a paper bobbin or even an air coil.

9.15k dc resistance, 5.36 henries. Paper bobbin. This pickup works fine, and I'm hestitant to take it apart, but I'd love to share some pictures with you and archive the information. I'll post some info later on the actual dimentions of the bobbin.

Try using macro mode (most cameras use a tulip flower symbol), so the close-ups will be in focus.

As it turns out, my phone takes better photos than my camera actually does. I'll see if I can improve the image if you can't tell what is going on in the picture. I'd love to have a camera with macro abillity, but bills and pickup making stack up to higher priority for me.

I'm going to post some better photos today. Does anyone want any additional information about these pickups before I put the thing back together?

I did not quite get how they are actually constructed. Are they like P90s with only one magnet? Were is the magnet placed?

Those are pretty high henries, which would lead me to believe that its a loud pickup, but kind of bassy? Am I right?

Well, I get much higher readings from my p-90's. It's higher than your average strat pickup, and lower than your average p-90.
Definately a woofy bass response. Similar but not a replacement for a p-90 to my ears.
