1981 Fender "blackface" 6 watt champ????

around 81, fender silverface champs reverted back to blackface cosmetics and then were banished for the rest of eternity. ive poked around in there and the circuit seems to be the same as the AA764 on a schematic diagram, but was wondering if the output transformers differ from the silverface champs/princeton's or your opinions on the sound of these last year champs (one watt louder than the blackfaces keep in mind). mine has been retubed with tung sol reissues, outfitted with a weber ceramic blue pup and recapped with an OEM and sprague coupling caps...sounds great with the exception of the cheap particle board enclosure...rattles like crazy!

The silverface Princeton's OT is centertapped, so yours is different from that but should be similar to the silver champ and vibrochamp.

If you are looking for something with a little more heft, an inexpensive option is the Edcor GXSE10-8-8k. They also make a 4 ohm version.

The additional 1 watt is obviously what is making your cabinet rattle
