RIP Jacko

Poor tormented guy - I guess he was blessed with a relatively soonish passing. That old age pyramid sure gets narrower as you get to the top. I guess 50 is nearer the top than the bottom - lots of peeps don't even make it that far.

Apart from all that's been said about him in the past, his music will undoubtedly survive him....

A genius at creating music, but totally incapable of living a "normal" life.

R.I.P. Michael and....thanks!

Bob

P.S. - tw, Enzo, I am going towards my 45th birthday, should I start to worry? After all, all those solder fumes ain't healthy, aren't they?

Well I wouldn't say they're Really Really Bad (but there are better things to give you a Thriller in the Middle of the Night, just so long as it ain't seeing Mummy Kissing Santa Clause).

I'm waiting for the toxicology report

That's one less pill popping anorexic pedophile for the youth of America to blindly follow because a lyric sticks in their head. The poorest of role models if ever there was one. He could have died years ago and it would have improved his reputation substantially. I've enjoyed a tune or two performed by him, but talent? C'mon. I've never seen him play an instrument. Influential? That others will follow a formula that works is basic human nature. If it wasn't for his family, we may never have heard of him, he may still be black, he may have been happy, or even still be alive. I'm one capable of looking the other way, but once you start to diddle children, well, goodbye you freak.

I came across this on another BB and I thought it was worth the ponder.

I guess maybe one of the noses could end up in the Smithsonian, another maybe in the Rock'bn'Roll Hall of Fame, or maybe Madame Tussauds?

(Will this get in me yet more trouble?)

No matter how much you may despise him as a man, it is the other way around. Without him, the Jacksons would be a local act working fairgrounds on the weekends at best. The kid was the star of the show. Marlon, Jackie, Tito, and Jermaine are not exactly big names or influences in this industry. And without that jackson springboard, who knows if Janet would have even gone into this business, let alone become a star. Oh yeah, and LaToya.

And one doesn;t have to play an instrument to be talented. SIngers like Frank SInatra, Barbara Streisand don;t play. Bernie Taupin never picked up an instrument on stage, but the lyrics he wrote propelled Elton John through his career. Jacksons dance was innovative, and he brought a cetain theater to his concerts.

Whatever demons might have inhabited him, I'd have to say a lack of talent wasn;t one of them.

There you go... trying to see the good in people...

Yes, he had talent. His talent was as a performer though. You don't see any dance moves on the radio - Talent dimenished. The vocals are also pretty subjective. Joe Cocker and Bob Dylan are also great vocalist for completely different reasons. Vocals are not enough to claim talent in my book, when anyone can sing. Michael's true talent was in working the media and hiring people to work for him. Being popular was his talent. Being an anorexic pill-popper is not just a slam on his character. If you have ever known someone with these problems, you know it is impossible to think straight, period. A huge chunk of your food is used to keep you warm, but another huge chunk is used by the brain. One cannot function on Demoral and stomach bile without other people proping you up. Having talent does not require a live-in doctor and a team of lawyers to cover his tracks for the last 20+ years. That's where character trumps talent. You shouldn't be put on a pedistal with that as your yardstick. He has to be a good person first, and he could have bought all the help he needed. He did it His Way.

he was a sad guy who had no childhood who had more natural talent than most artist ever aquire...but one might think of himself as a contrarian for not accepting someones are because he didnt live up to our expectatins as a man but few men do..
