Yeah. We lost a good one. A real, according-to-the-dictionary genius; an incredible player, and by most accounts a genuinely nice fella. |

Really a loss. But it seems he lived his life to the fullest and never stopped playing. That's probably why he lived as long as he did. His passing will not get nearly the news coverage Michael Jackson did, but he was, IMHO, a much more accomplished musician and has made an impact that will continue for many future generations of musicians and music lovers. Rest in peace Les.

Very sad. I remember my mother used to love listening to Les Paul and Mary Ford. They were a popular duo 50-60 years ago. A true giant in the industry has passed.

Let's see... Made it to 94, enjoyed limelight and celebrity for a very long career in music, played with many of the greats, broke ground in electric guitar innovation, ultimately helped design one of the two top guitars in the industry (perhaps the better one) and got most of his guitars for free. I'd say he had a pretty good run. And kudos for all he has ever been at diverse ends of a sometimes difficult industry. Even many young players know who he was (if only because they wanted to know why a guitar was named 'Les Paul'). A true legend before his passing and the same will live on beyond all our years. Hoist your glasses. Chuck |

I'm wondering what's going to happen to all the guitars that he kept around all those years. I saw a picture of some of his hardware and it was fairly awesome.

"Somewhere there's music, How faint the tune, Somewhere there's heaven, How high the moon" Well, there's a tune being played a lot more tastefully at the big jam session in the sky. In the top of the list amongst one of the very best and most respected guitar players, ever. A true gentleman. An innovator. To be able to play, and still entertain, into your 90's at a standing gig at the Iridium is an accomplishment in itself. Nobody doesn't like Les Paul, if they know anything. Thank you Les. |
