...indeed a VERY bad week for musicians: first Les Paul and now Ted Weber.

...RIP thoughts to them both.

What? No way! Manufacturers in this industry are rare enough on the ground, let alone good manufacturers. He will be sorely missed. He went out of his way to be helpful to many people here (including myself) about amp building. This is the worst-possible terrible news - the passing of some golden age

I never dealt with Ted, but his product and reputation made his name synonymous with good tone. As a builder/designer you recognize and respect this kind of person.

I want to tell a short story. Perhaps for my own sake, but read on if you like...

I'm currently working on an attenuator design that may go into production by a recognized MFG. The idea was to match features, improve performance and still beat the competition on price. Weber VST beat me to this game long ago and I considered that product my direct competition. But when I read about Ted's passing this morning all I felt was grief and shock.

I didn't even want to believe it. But after some searching around I found info about his ongoing battle with illness and that Ted was actually waiting for a lung. Then I found a thread on the Telecaster forum that referenced a post by an employee at Weber VST who wrote about Ted's passing. Even though this was second hand information I was inclined to believe it because of it's nature. And so I've been comming to terms with Ted's passing all day and people keep asking me whats wrong. I guess this is a hard one for me because individual innovators have become so scarce in this indusry. Ted must have been special to make it work so well. Weber VST has made such an important impact in a short time. I'm really bummed. I feel like a comrade has died.

Support Ted's family and the employees at Weber VST. Buy Weber VST products whenever you need something they make or provide.

Chuck

I've never dealt with Ted directly, but I have used his products, and he built a good company and a good product. He will surely be missed.

I worked with Ted at his old "day job" while he was getting his speaker business started. He was a great guy, very knowledgable and he knew how to get things done.
He will be sadly missed. Condolenses to his family and his employees.

Modern medicine can do amazing things, but to do them it needs some basic supplies back from society, ie us.
Suggest that we all use a few minutes to check that our organ donation details are up to date and instruct our loved ones of our wishes.
And take out half an hour to donate some blood in the near future, and regularly thereafter.
It's too late for Ted to benefit, but there's are untold numbers of people out there waiting in limbo, just like he was.

I corresponded with Ted many times, his speaker recommendations were perfect for my applications. Maybe because of his knowledge, I thought he was much older. The world has changed with his passing, but heaven has benefited. If you get a chance, look at the nice memorial at the Weber site.

The definition of "Patience"

I just found out about Ted's Passing. I spoke to him and emailed him numerous times in the past. I was amazed at how he ALWAYS answered my emails. His patience was second to none.

God bless you Ted.
