Help with MMFX Tubedancer pedal. (2 in 1.... Boost & 4558d overdrive.)

I think this is a great sounding pedal.. Boost on one side, OD on the other. It's having some problems , can you give me some advice?

1- The Pots for level and boost are both intermittent, sometimes they function normally, sometimes they sound at full volume with the knob rolled off... Yikes! (both troubled pots measure at 68k while still in the circuit. I usually set them at around 20k to 30k though, They are alpha mini pots (the ones with the black plastic backs). The other 2 pots are alpha minis too, but they are normal looking pots with metal backs. I sprayed electrical cleaner... it didn't help.
Can I replace with a lower value pot without affecting the tone? I don't need anywhere near this much volume, and the pedals sweet spot with these knobs would be on about 2.... ( If the knobs were numbered 1 to 10)

2- The Led's sometimes flicker dimly when the pedal is in bypassed mode.
Is this a related issue? It doesn't bother me to bad.

3- The stomp switch on the distortion side is a little funky, if you press it softly (which I've learned not to do), there's a 1 in 10 chance the signal will completely die!!!! Remedied by another quick stomp.

That being said, I think the OD-distortion side of this pedal is a sleeper. I've actually been going to it more than Timmy lately in my Matchless Sc-30.
Thanks!!!!!!

Check this out... I hadn't even noticed it was signed (inside of the pedal on the bottom plate) by Morgan Miller, dated 8-16-2001, serial #002.

The pedal is black in color.

Question

One more thing, I put this in a TB looper today... Man what a tone suck in bypassed mode. Made sure it wasn't the cables etc, definitely the pedal.

That means the problem is either the switches , jacks, or wiring between the two correct? Which would you swap first?

The switches are wired TB I believe, (They are 3pdt) but not like any I've seen, they have a slightly taller plastic housing, wider connector spacing, and unfortunately, are mounted directly to the small pcbs for the respective boost or drive sides of the pedal.

I really do dig the tone, it gets along great with my wah, phase, mojo vibe and amp.... but dont wan't it dragging down all it's buddies when switched off!http:

Apparently It's a one man thread.... O.K..... for any future MMFX Tubedancer users .......

I swapped the 2 pots for drive and boost with alpha min 50 k mini's and all the problems are solved. EXCEPT the tone sucking.

But THAT was cured by simply snipping out the resistor that was soldered across the input jack.

I can't believe more people aren't singing this pedals praises. I shot it out with Timmy, a Maxxon v-0d 9 and a who's who's cast of pedals... and for people with a Vox-y class A combo ..... You simply won't find a better OD.

The boost with the drive on adds a great texture too, It makes things brighter, like a rangemaster. I don't use it to boost volume, but just as a different tonal option.

Keep on tube dancin' HA!
