| SF Deluxe Reverb 70w Ultralinear mod
Hi, I am into converting my Fender 79’ Deluxe Reverb into Pro Reverb Ultralinear 70w version. I found on line the power and output transformer , but I am wondering on what would be the exact instructions to install the ultralinear OT , what would be the original match for filter caps ( I guess that the two 100uf – 350w and three 20uf -50w with 220k , 4,7k and1k resistors solution would be fine ) Another important point for me is : how to arrange the power supply section ? How many diodes and resistors values ? I wish to adapt a rectifier tube to the amp. The actual power supply cap is a spargue 100uf-100v the bias pot is already fixed as a true adjustable bias I read that an ultralinear OT have screen grid taps so this means that it cannot just be replaced and installed the same connections cables of my original Deluxe? May somebody can help me to understand how to install the OT ? I’m looking on the web for some layouts but cannot find anything for the ultralinear Proreverb 70w or Bassman 70w , just found some schematics. I my deluxe already have the bigger choke , a new Legend Eminence 150w speaker. I love the 70w version of fender amps for the clean and I’m using my amp only for Jazz so I never need distorted sound and in that specific case I would use a pedal. thank you in advance , John |

I'm sure it's just me, but it seems like you're doing this the hard way. And 70 watts thru that 1x12 is not gonna make you jazz tone happy for sure. The SF ultralinear amps are not expensive. You could easily sell your DR for way more than a UL Pro or SuperReverb would cost. Then you and the guy with the DR would both be much happier. OR you could just mod the DR so it is cleaner and less farty - jazzy? Or you could just toss the UL trans in there and see what you get. You can also get UL DR trannies from Triode Electronics. And put a Weber 50watt ceramic in there. That WILL make you happy. just a thot Charlie |

I hate to see you do such extensive mods on a DR. IMO, it may just not be the amp you want/need for a real clean jazz sound. I like my Fenders for example, when I play my 335 or Strat, but with my jazz archtops, I prefer my SS Yamahas. YMMV

Is the Pro Reverb power transformer going to fit in the chassis hole in the Deluxe Reverb? It's a major pain if the hole needs to be enlarged and just as bad if you ever want to go back.
