Great! Thank you!

If you found'em on the gibson site, I feel embarrased for not being able to find'em myself.

How did you do it, may I ask?

Those figures are correct, I have all three of those and that is the DCR they measure.
(despite what Gibson says)

FWIW, I have a BB1 here that measures 7.74 K and a BB Pro neck(Rhythm pro) that measures 7.85 K. As we know very well, published specs and actual mileage may vary! I would tend to rely on a good sampling of actual measurements rather than posted specs anytime.

Burstbuckers I, II or III?

Hello,

I just bought a 2008 '57 Les Paul Custom RI with Burstbuckers, according to the Gibson website. Well, as I understand it, there are three different types of Busrtbuckers?

How do I know which one is in my guitar?

This is from the Gibson website:

Gibson - Gibson Guitar: Electric, Acoustic and Bass Guitars, Baldwin Pianos

"Gibson’s legendary Burstbucker pickups deliver all the subtle variations of true, classic humbucker tone by using historically “unmatched” bobbin windings and Alnico II magnets."

I'd like to know the DC resistance rating without performing surgery .

Thanks for any assistance.

Measure their resistance from the cable it will be close enough to get an idea.

Take them out and look at the sticker on the back, it's pretty much the only way to positively ID them.

I've often wondered about measuring from the output jack. I can experiment with doing that. Can you "measure" just one pup at a time by using the volume knob and the 3 way switch?

Thanks!

Yes, just make sure the volume and tone controls are all the way up. It's pretty close.

...

they will measure a little bit on the low side of what they really are, when you measure out the jack, but it gives you an idea anyway....
There is a way to improve BurstBuckers, a guy on YouTube unwound his and did a demo, they improve alot if you take some winds off, especially on the neck.....

Thanks for that Possum, your right, they were low, or underwound, and I know better than that. These pups are hot even compared to my 8K & 9k Lindy Fralin PAF's.

I don't know that much about electronics but I did take a couple of electricity classes and labs in college as part of an engineering degree. I expect the only way to get a "true" DC resistance measurement is to disconnect the pup from the circuit?

Yes, lift the ground off the back of the pot or easier, lift the hot lead then measure. Be aware though that the reading you get is directly related to room temperature. If you're in a hot room in the summer and its 120 degrees farenheit you might get a reading of 8.5k, conversely in the winter and you didn't pay your electric bill and are out of firewood and its 13 degrees in the room it might read 7.6K :-)

Now that is what I call a precise answer, you wouldn't be related to Spock on Star Trek?
