Chords for The Shadows version of Stardust

I can play the lead easily enough - that bit is not the problem it is the chords in behind it.

I think I've got most of them, but I know there are some I can't quite git. I looked all round the net and couldn't find a single chord tab for this, so I had a go over the last 6 months of listening and re-listening and tabbing and re-tabbing and re-re-tabbing (til I'm fed up with tryin' to tab it), but I still don't have it quite there yet. If anyone else'd care to have a look at what I've done and maybe if you know you could kindly tell me where I've gone wrong. These old ears ain't what they used to be. The bits I'm the least certain about are the chords for last lines of the 2nd and 3rd verses.

Not that I typically care for pinpoint accuracy in my own interpretations of other songs, but I would really like to know specifically what they were playing in the background, purely for my own edification

Any ideas/comments gratefully received

Cheers

Is this the same song as the all time classic written by Hoagie Carmichael?

Download it for $4 US
Sheet Music Downloads & Books | Musicnotes.com

Google "stardust sheet music" for many other sources.

Does your local music store stock sheet music or "fake books?" Look it up in the store copy and see what it says. Your local library might have sheet music or the music department of a local college or even public school.

You can;t Xerox off copies, that is illegal.

Yes indeed Hoagie Carmichael wrote the original. Many thanks.

I am obsessed with The Shadows version. (The original is more complex, although I daresay I'll may get around to it one day.)

Any more comments on The Shadows version (or my rendering of it) please feel free to chime in.

Hi Tubeswell

As an aside to your request for the chords the Shads played on Stardust, I will ask my old friend who is on tour with them as the Guitar Tech for Hank and Bruce (Last ever Shads and Cliff Tour) but I suspect that the answer will not be printable on a family forum.

It could well be along the lines of "You must be ****** joking, I have slept since then and I do not have the memory of an elephant!"

They probably did not arrange it themselves and the producer would have provided a chord sheet for Bruce but I could be wrong on that.

Hey Thanks Delta

Asking the men themselves - now why didn't I think of that? That is sooo cool.

Thanks M8

If there's anything I can do in return let me know.

Cheers

Hi Tubeswell.

I have e-mailed my friend the question but do not hold your breath for an answer.

Tubeswell while you're waiting have a hunt around for a midi file version
stardust* .mid .
It may not be accurate but it may help you to "hear" the chords.
Some midi editors can show the score or even the chords.
Now that PC's can record audio there are heaps of Midi editors
you can pick up for a song !
I got a copy of Cubase Lite 1.10 for $3 at a garage sale ( jumble for Uk"ers).
It came out when Win 95 was around but still runs on XP.
You can isolate the tracks.
Again it depends on the ability of the person that assembled/played the midi file.
