| Could this be a Shaw?
Hi all, after reading a few threads I realized I might have a Gibson Shaw humbucker in one of my spare guitars. This pickup was bought used from a store about 24 years ago, they claimed it was from a Les Paul. It is non-potted, has white plastic spacers, no T on the coils, and a chrome cover. I don't recall anything about the magnet. The flux residue is there as I've removed the cover several times. I also measured and wrote the coil resistance on the bottom. It does have an inked number on the back, but it doesn't seem to follow the Shaw numbering system I've seen in some past threads on this forum. It sounds pretty good in the neck position of this guitar BTW. Also, if any of you wish, I could pull the cover off and take a few pics. Thanks for your help. |

I think the code number is wrong. Google around Shaw identifying codes. I have one and I think the first numbers should be 8's. Photo might help...

Here's an '81 Shaw baseplate. This one says "220 381", 81 being the year. 3 is the month, so yours is 11/80.
