| Looking for opinions on transformers....
When it comes to replacement transformers what's the difference? I see mercury magnetics are spendy, then heyboer, then weber or hammond. Anyone have any experience with a comparison between these products? BTW I'm looking to build a 50watt plexi clone, probably on a ceriatone chassis. Thanks Doug |

They are what they are and the price reflects it. The Heybour is probably the best bang for the buck. I usued all of these and the power supplies to me IMO were all very close and no sonic differences but the OT's are a different story where almost all have sonic differences. I wired up a Marshall PTP handwired 18 watter that the owner switched to a Mercury power tranny and I have to say it was one of the sweetest little sounding amps I've ever heard. No crackles, pops, hiss, hum or nothing, just raw pure tone and the louder it got the better it sounded so it's your call but they are what they are.
