Sens Mag in the US

Well I contacted Sensmag last nite and got a big attitude from them. I asked if there was a way to avoid the $40 wire fee to their bank, they wrote back and said "your needs are too small, please buy from your US distributor." They said nothing about a bank in New York when I asked about that also. So I asked them who my US distributor is and they refused to answer. They DO have a minimum and refused to ship samples for me to try, so if I want to try any bucker magnets I have to buy 125.
I think you EU guys get a better deal being closer to them.

Has anyone tried their new Alnico5L, which they say is like alnico 4/5, probably the mythical "non-oriented 5 ?" Who else besides #$@&* Allstar sells their products in the US? I guess its a big secret

I did get samples from them previously of their rough cast alnico 2 and 5, its the exact same stuff Allstar had, the alnico 5 was really shrill and they were too thin, under .125" probably the worst I've seen of the rough cast type.

Well, she's being nice today....women Prices aren't bad if you order 500 or more. Their alnico 5L sounds interesting, trying to find out if its isotropic or not.....

You have to remember, the bank charges them the fee. It's unreasonable to expect them to waive it when you are buying $100 worth of magnets.

I just ordered $1000 worth of magnets from them and still had to pay the fees.

You can buy ANYTHING that sens mag sells through Allstar Magnetics in Washington State.

Yeah but then you have to deal with Allstar, not a pleasant thought. I'll buy from Sensmag at some point and do a group buy to make it work. Won't be for awhile yet, the lady there was real nice last nite, probably just had a bad day, when I first contacted her she treated me like go away you're too small. The funny thing is they make those rough cast bar magnets because I worked with Rob Paar at Allstar to get them done right, well unfortunately they still aren't right and wouldn't buy them again, many of them showed up partly polished and very thin, like .115" thick, very shrill sounding A5. Magnetic Hold's rough cast mags are the absolute most authentic I got and I worked with them also to get them right, I hate using them because they are too good :-)

If you can get anything from Sens at Allstar, has anyone tried the alnico 5L? Sens told me they sold 5,000 of these already....

I lived with her!

P.M.S. 27 days of the lunar month... Sorted it by just dropping my bag after work, looking at her radiant temperature and going for a few beers.

My tea was in the dog and I got the cold arse when I went to bed.

Only thing I could ask her for was to please leave.

I would use a smiley here but it's true.

Blonde, green eyes.

I heard from Shea at Magnetic Hold, he said Sensmag is not a manufacturer, thats why their prices are on the steep side of things for Chinese product. HIs prices for bucker mags are almost the same as Sensmag's without bank fees and expensive shipping. I love Shea, no attitude and always helpful, their rough cast magnets look like the real thing.....

That will explain why Sensmag is so expensive in comparison to Neomax and also why they don't have a minimum order quantity.

To 'make' some 8 string pickup magnetics they quoted me if I remember rightly $20 a piece! Neomax produced them for between $3 - $5 a piece (depending on the magnet type).

All becomes clear!

A cousin of mine used to use the pickup line: "You want one inch at a time or both inches at once?"

For some reason, it worked quite well for him.

Well the big question is are they pickup maker friendly? Do they have stock sizes we use? Do they sell less than 1,000 of anything to one person businesses?

I got the name from someone who is in the pantheon of serious pickup makers as a reliable source for very consistent A5 at a premium price. They've been at it longer than anyone else and they are probably the largest producer of alnico in the US. I just figured someone would have heard of them along the way. We just need to find someone who works there and plays guitar. There must be one out of the 220 employees..

Thomas Skinner, Arnold and Permanent Magnet company are the only US Alnico makers left. Two of these companies are looking for a willing buyer because the business sucks for them. One of them will not provide samples and all of them are not very friendly to the small guy even if you are paying in cash. My experience has been that if you are going to order less than 1200 bar magnets or 5000 rod magnets from any of these three don't bother placing an order. At 1200 bar magnets the prices are more than double what you can get from China. But if you want USA magnets then bite the bullet. I have gotten samples or purchased magnets from all 3 of these companies and all were good and all were different. Some better than others.

I have had a positive experience with Sens. They sent me samples and have followed up with me on several occasions. They seem very enthusiastic about doing business.

In contrast, I have had problems with Arnold...no one has ever called me back after several calls during the last couple years so I doubt that I'll ever bother with them again.

Glad you're back Sam Lee Guy...

Sam Lee sent me another one:
A Canadian is walking down the street with a case of beer under his arm. His Canadian friend stops him and asks, "Hey Bob! Whacha get the case of beer for, eh?"
"I got it for my wife, eh." answers Bob.
"Oh!" exclaims Doug, "Good trade."

Ah! Possum just email Sam 2 funny story!

A Man meet his friend alone and say "Hey fella, where your wife?"
Second man say "She gone on holiday to Caribbean."
- "Jamaica?"
- " No, entirely her own decision"

Man go to doctor and say "Yesterday I think I'm marquee but today wigwam."
Doctor Say " You two tents!" (too tense) - Ha Ha, Possum velly funny guy.

Flank Falbo phone Possum and say "I tell you all Seymours secrets if you paint my porch free.I supply brushes and green paint"
Next day, Possum knock on Flanks door and say "Work all finished but don't worry I don't need any more secrets, especially since you don't even know you have Ferrari, not a Porch."
