Happy New Year, folks! Finally found a Marshall 1965B cabinet to match the A version I've had, and use a Traynor 20-watt Bass Mate head to drive 'em. Sounds pretty good, no ear bleed, but not quite as much drive as I'd like. Sounds much better with a Tube Screamer........ Decided that a Marshall-style 2204 might be the way to go -- most reviews I've read say that it's one of the better-sounding MV amps around. I can always cut the B+ with a high-wattage zener and use 6V6s to keep the power at the 20-watt level. Couple questions: What'd be a good source for a chassis. preferably aluminum? Maybe a Mojo Marshall JTM? I'm sure I can get a repro front and back panel set, or something pretty close. Cabinet won't be a problem. Circuit card? Again, maybe the JTM 45? Figured I'd use Marshall-style filters and transformers. Any suggestions are welcomed. Thanks in advance, dB |

Regarding the chassis, this one looks like it would work if you don't mind punching and drilling the holes yourself: http://www.turretboards.com/Chassis_blank_head_box.htm steve |
