There were quite a few of these guitars or similar in Australia in the 60's.
As I recall they were hard to play and the switches were often intermittant.
The low end market these days is luxurious by comparison.
However those Daimaru are quite a conversation piece and collectors item
I gather and make an intersting change from the usual Stats, Tele's and Gibson etc.
I'm a bit out of my depth here but attempted to decipher the writing from your
    picture album assuming its katakana.
Perhaps a college or university student studying the Japanese language may be able to assist.
My attempt translated it as Zanpunore Singapore perhaps ? although the Katakana translation for Singapore on the web was completely different.

Actually I'm completely out of my depth

    Wink Daimaru Guitar

Never heard these were in Australia..my switches are mint tight ..likely guitar was never used much..sat for years in basement..thanks for interpreting or dechiper on symbols..think it means Singapore ? well not far from Japan where it was made..Incidentally this guitar appears well made a signature of the higher quality expected of Teisco whom made guitar for Daimaru..Daimaru put there badge on it and where known for quality ....Daimaru known for fine woodworking, they specialized in acoustic F holes...farmed out solid body guitars..well maybe a Japenese (or similiar can figure out symbols)...
    Thanks for info..

    Hi ocdisorder and dai h
My own home-resident Japanese translator (my son Alberto , often called Aruberuto by his Japanese friends) tells me that reads: SA N PU RU : sample.

    Teiscos ???? impossible

Hey Guys, I too have a teisco (at least thats what everyones seems to think) that I can find no imformation about. I have seen only one other one on utube, and that guy didn't even know what it was for sure. I have emailed vintage guitar, gibson, & teisco but know one knows for sure. It has a plaque that says "Melody" on it and the amp also says "Melody". They both sound great but would like to know exactly what they are.....any HELP???

    Hello dai h.
Have another set of symbols that need deciphering if possible.
Believe Japanese could be T for Teisco not sure.
3 symbols total will post some pictures.
I was told some time ago factories inspectors used these symbols at times.
Quality Control or similiar in the factory.
Took best pics I had of many to post here.
Very kind of you to assist me with research.
