    70s Tele Neck Wire?

I'm rewinding a tele neck pickup on a 74 Telecaster. The owner said he loved the original neck pickup because it's "Hendrix like tones".

To me, a Tele neck sounds nothing like a Strat neck...which makes me wonder if they used 42AWG in the 70s. Anyone know?

Seems since I'm gunning for Strat tones that 42AWG would be the wise choice regardless.

I think they primarily used 43 gauge unless they ran out. Then they used 42 gauge until they got more 43.
