Gold Slugs

I can't find gold plated slugs anywhere. Allparts and stewmac don't have them and Mojotone has been out of them for quite some time now (like they are with 50% of their pickup parts. I placed an order with them a few weeks back and half the stuff got back ordered.)

I need 8 sets and if any of you know where I can get them, I'd greatly appreciate the help.

You'll probably have to plate your own. Caswell Plating has a small hand plater, it does a fair job, the solution is expensive about $35 for a small bottle

IŽd go to a local galvanic shop with my nickel plated slugs and screws.
If you do not need 10 000 pieces they wounŽt charge you.
I gave the guy a bottle of wine and 10 euros.

Once again, touchy situation. GJ has them. Order at own risk

I have gold slugs on backorder too. I think they told me 2 weeks. You have to realize Mojo kind of got screwed when GJ stopped shipping. David there has been working his ass off to keep parts in stock and add new stuff which has been awesome since no one else is doing it. I think Mojo is doing a fantastic job considering.

In a world where you can't keep up with sales = screwed, please screw me... and hard.

I wasn't meaning to talk shit about Mojo. They have made becoming a pickup maker infinitely easier. I have dropped a grand with them in the last month. I definitely appreciate them.

People say that I am being too anal with the gold slugs. I have a bb king style humbucker that gets 2 cream bobbins covered with a gold cover. The cover will 99.99% of the time never be removed, but if it does... I would know it isn't right that that is more than enough to put me on hold for gold slugs.

Yep. I know. If I can't aspire to do better work than people were doing 50 years ago, I should find something else to do.

You can replate item, just send them to the plater and get them flash plated in gold. The additonal layer is so thin you probably would have no fit problems. Then you can use your favorite slug and they even look the same.

The caswell hand plater you can just plate the tops in a few minutes. Its kinda scary ordering "gold slugs." What are they made of? Montreaux's slugs are 1022 for instance, another company has them in 1005, they all look the same but they don't sound the same.

The covers were never meant to be taken off, so the slugs were never meant to be seen. Seth Lover never wanted the adjustable screws in the first place. It was supposed to be a double slug, closed cover design.

If you really want to do better than they did 50 years ago, drop that whole archaic design and create a new one! It's a nice sounding design, but the packaging is outdated.
