    "OOPS!" moment of the week.

So, what was everyone's oops moment this week?

    I'll start er off.

Working on converting a Laney AOR to a JCM800. got everything installed (new board from Metro) and was testing... a few little hiccups later, and I am getting proper B+.

I turn itup a bit to test it out and it is getting wierd blocking distortion. It seems a little independant of the cable as well. I turn around to go and check for another cable, thinking my test cable might be iffy, when i turn back i see whisps of smoke! I think "Dang there goes a cap or 2" and go around the back of the chassis to turn it off. when i notice the output tubes glowing CHERRY! baking the logos on the tubes.

Morale of the story? When you unhook the Bias supply to find a bug, remember to hook it back up again.

Had to head home right after... guess i'll have a report on Monday!

Whenever an amp sounds too good, check for red plating.
WARNING! Musical Instrument amplifiers contain lethal voltages and can retain them even when unplugged. Refer service to qualified personel.
